Kismat Safety Tips
Effective: 28 June 2026 (version 3)
Most people you meet on Kismat are genuine. A few aren’t. These tips cover the patterns we see most.
Online - before meeting
- Take your time. Real people don’t mind talking inside the app for a while. People in a hurry to move you to WhatsApp or Telegram on day one are usually running a script.
- Reverse-image-search the photos. If they show up on someone else’s social profile, you’re looking at a catfish.
- Watch for money asks. Crypto investment tips, “emergency” medical bills, gift cards, fake job opportunities - if money comes up, it’s a scam. Block and report.
- Watch for love-bombing. “You’re my soulmate” in week one is a tactic, not romance.
- Video-call before meeting, even briefly. It’s the cheapest way to confirm someone is the person in their photos.
On video (Video mode)
- Pick a private, neutral spot. Keep your home layout, address, workplace, and other people out of the frame.
- Keep identifying details out of view - uniforms, ID cards, mail, license plates, school or gym logos.
- You are always in control. You can end or report any call in one tap, and you never have to stay on a call that feels off.
- Never send money or gift cards, and don't move to another app to "keep talking" if something feels rushed.
- Expect real faces. Every account can be verified, and calls are monitored for the most serious violations - but if anything crosses a line, leave and report it. We review every report.
- We don't record your calls, and neither should anyone else - recording or screenshotting another person without consent is against our rules and, in many places, the law.
In person - first meetings
- Public place, daytime if possible for the first meeting. Cafés, parks, popular bars.
- Tell a friend where you’ll be, who you’re meeting, and roughly when you’ll be back. Share live location with them.
- Drive yourself or use your own ride. Don’t let someone you just met pick you up from home.
- Watch your drink. Drink-spiking happens. Order it yourself, keep it close, leave any drink that was out of your sight.
- Trust your gut. If something feels off, leave. You owe nobody a polite explanation.
Personal information
- Don’t share your home address until trust is well established. Use the date venue address, not yours.
- Don’t share account passwords, banking info, or copies of your ID. Kismat will never ask for these in chat.
- Be careful with photos that contain identifying details (uniforms, school names, gym memberships, license plates).
If something happens
- In Austria: Police 133 · EU emergency 112 · Women’s helpline 0800 222 555 (24/7, free).
- Report the conversation to us from the … menu. We preserve evidence for 30 days.
- Email support@kismat.at if you need a faster human response.
