Accessibility Statement
Effective: 28 June 2026 (version 2)
Our commitment
Kismat is built for everyone looking for connection. We aim for the Kismat app and website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA where reasonably achievable for a consumer dating product. We treat accessibility as an ongoing practice, not a one-time project.
What this means in practice
- Screen-reader support. All interactive elements (buttons, toggles, swipe controls, form fields) carry accessibility labels. We test with VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android before each release.
- Colour contrast. Text and essential UI elements meet the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text). The Kismat brand palette (royal green and yellow) was selected with this in mind.
- Dynamic type. The app honours your device's text-size setting. Layouts re-flow at larger sizes without truncation.
- Reduced motion. Decorative animations honour your "Reduce Motion" / "Reduce Animations" device setting and fall back to instant transitions.
- Keyboard and switch control. The website at kismat.at supports keyboard navigation. The app supports iOS Switch Control and Android Switch Access for users who navigate without touching the screen.
- Captions. We do not currently rely on audio for any required information; if we add audio in the future we will provide captions or transcripts.
Known limitations
We are honest about where we fall short:
- The map view ("nearby users") relies on visual location pins. We are working on a list-based equivalent for screen-reader users.
- Some user-uploaded photos do not have alt text. Where photos are decorative-only we mark them as such; where they are central to a profile we are exploring AI-generated descriptions.
- The liveness selfie check requires camera framing that may be difficult for users with limited motor control. We accept manual review requests at support@kismat.at if you cannot complete the standard flow.
Standards we follow
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA (target).
- EN 301 549 v3.2.1 (the European harmonised standard for ICT accessibility).
- Apple Human Interface Guidelines - Accessibility chapter (iOS).
- Material Design 3 - Accessibility chapter (Android).
Tell us when something does not work
If you hit an accessibility barrier in Kismat, please tell us. The fastest channels:
- Email support@kismat.at with a description of the issue, the device + assistive technology you use, and any screenshot or screen-recording you can share.
- If your message touches privacy or contains profile information, use support@kismat.at instead.
We respond to accessibility reports within 10 working days. If a fix needs a code release we will tell you the expected timing.
Compatibility
Kismat targets recent versions of iOS, Android, and modern desktop browsers. Older operating-system versions or browsers may render parts of the experience with reduced fidelity; we list current minimum versions on our App Store and Google Play listings.
Updates to this statement
We refresh this statement when we make a meaningful accessibility change (new feature, new audit, new known limitation). The "Effective" date at the top tracks the latest revision.
Supervisory authority
If you are based in the EU and are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility request, you may contact the relevant national accessibility-monitoring body. In Austria this is the Sozialministeriumservice (www.sozialministeriumservice.at) under the Web-Zugaenglichkeits-Gesetz (WZG).
